We’ve finally gotten around to dropping in our html and xml site maps. This is something that’s been on the list for awhile, and has finally rose to the top of our lengthy to do list.
If you’re not quite sure what an xml site map is for then just know that it help search engines like Google and Yahoo! to crawl and index your site much faster and with greater efficiency. It’s kind of like giving a search engine the keys to your house and letting them come over whenever they want to raid the fridge.
If this sounds interesting to you and you want to create your own xml site map, then check out xml-sitemaps.com. They’ll create several different flavors of xml site maps for free (up to 500 pages). Once generated, the maps can be uploaded to sites like Google and Yahoo!, which will help with your site’s SERP.
Jill and I were just interviewed as Dolls for Friends for an upcoming article in our local newspaper, The Columbian. The piece will be about our involvement in the upcoming Recycled Arts Festival in Vancouver, WA over the weekend of June 27/28.
This is the second year we have participated in this show, and it’s probably one of the best (and only) craft-related shows in Vancouver. The article mainly focused on our style, process and work aesthetic. We’re not sure when the piece will be coming out, but we are checking the paper regularly so we can snag a copy of it.
We all love it when our work gets a little bit of recognition, and thankfully, this month lightning has struck twice. Earlier this week we did a short interview for an article on creative business cards and promotion for
Smashing Magazine. The piece,
Business Card Design: Better Than A Plain Ol’ Business Card, was published today, and it looks great. We got a direct quote and a double link to our sister project,
Dolls for Friends. Thanks to
Kat Neville and Smashing Magazine for contacting us about contributing to the piece.
It looks like
Helvetica Awards just spied our little sticker project and gave us a nod. Hooray. Yes, if you would like stickers we are in the habit of sending our little loverlies out for the price of one SASE. Just drop us a line on our contact page, and we’ll give you the addy.
eljl is proud to present version 2 of its website. This is our studio’s second incarnation in the four years we’ve been located in the Pacific Northwest. While our old site served it’s purpose as an informational tool, it lived on a bit too long without a refresh-a happenstance of our extremely busy project schedule (although, we are not complaining.)
Our new site features many of the features that we loved in our first version, but incorporates many new features (particularly under the hood) that we have been using in some of our recent work.
At this point our content remains much the same as it was in the previous incarnation, but as with all our personal projects it’s the starting point-not the destination. So, you can be sure that things will be changing over the life of this version.
So, it’s a new year and a new face. Well… not such a new year anymore, but it’s a new face to be sure.
